We Have the VICTORY Through CHRIST
I have always been amazed at the advice worldly people give to someone who is hurting. “When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!” Can you see someone dangling over a cliff, holding on to a rope, and trying to tie a knot? It takes two hands to do that!
The first thing we need to remember is “don’t demand to understand.” There are some things in life you and I just will never understand. When God allows darkness to overshadow your life, don’t set about lighting your own fire. That’s a recipe for heartache.
Trust that His light will come and wait for it. He will come. Believe it.
“I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah”
“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures… ”1
I have a divine shepherd. It is He and no one or anything else who meets my needs.
He causes me to rest in green pastures. The green pastures in Palestine were few and far between. So the shepherd had to know where they were and how to get there.
Does not Jesus give us rest? Does he not know how to feed us? Does he not know where the best place to go for spiritual nourishment and refreshment?
As a shepherd leads sheep to fresh grass for feeding, so the Lord leads His people. One who follows the Lord does not lack any spiritual nourishment.2
Am I restless? Am I anxious? Am I spiritually hungry? Then I need to go to my Shepherd and let him lead me to the green pastures…
It is a disturbing truth that Jesus Christ literally came out of the grave. You just can’t be neutral about the resurrection. If you are a thinking person, you’re going to have to face the fact of the resurrection. Either it is true or it is not true. Either He came out of that grave or He did not. Now which side are you on? You can’t just ball it all up and say, “It doesn’t really make any difference. Let’s just put our arms around everybody. We all believe the same thing.” No, no, no! When you take a stand for truth, you’re going to have a head-on collision with the darkness that doesn’t want the light shining in!
